This elegant hand painted Nantucket Whale sign makes a unique and eye-catching piece for our home decor. All aspects of this sign are hand painted and including the distressing. The wavy ‘Nantucket’ lettering painted along the length of the whale is about saying the whale is the sea and the sea is the whale, both belong to the other.

This is a great sign for those who appreciate traditional craftmanship and want to gift someone something more meaningful than a product of the quick print tin culture.

I painted this sign, using traditional signwriting techniques and products, skills which I learnt many years ago, then reluctantly discarded; a lost love I have recently rekindled.

Being hand painted this sign is unique, individual and its characteristics in the lettering and artwork reflect my own ability with a brush as no part of it was machine printed.

I use salvaged panel materials when appropriate to add aesthetically qualities to my signs and to also help the planet.
