A hand painted reproduction Nebuchadnezzar plaque nameplate

I painted this Nebuchadnezzar plaque for I am a fan of The Matrix, and I wanted my own piece of film history hanging on my wall.

I painted the panel with Bedec Gold Multi Surface Paint and allowed it to dry; I then applied a much heavier second coat which I then pitted, broke, and disturbed to create an uneven irregular finish. Once the panel was dry, I wet flattened the surface to remove the excessive high points. I then repainted the panel with Anchor (black) Dixey Belle Mineral Paint, wet sanded it again to reveal the gold raised leaving the blackened pitted areas untouched, so giving me the bronzed metal plague on which to sign write the lettering.

The lettering and borderlines I painted in Bedec Gold Multi Surface Paint, which was challenging for it is not an easy paint to signwrite with, especially on such a uneven and pity surface.

This is a great sign for those who appreciate traditional craftmanship and want to gift someone something more meaningful than a product of the quick print tin culture.

I painted this sign, using traditional signwriting techniques and products, skills which I learnt many years ago, then reluctantly discarded; a lost love I have recently rekindled.

Being hand painted this sign is unique, individual and its characteristics in the lettering and artwork reflect my own ability with a brush as no part of it was machine printed.

I use salvaged panel materials when appropriate to add aesthetically qualities to my signs and to also help the planet.
