I painted this sign as I am a fan of The Expanse television series. The process involved recreating a aluminium/silver mottled metal finish which both looks realistic but also has texture of metal when touched. I achieved this through various brush techniques and by using Bedec metallic silver Multi Surface Paint. The panel was then overvarnished using Polycrylic Acrylic flat varnish.

The lettering and borderlines were also free hand painted using Bedec metallic silver Multi Surface Paint and were left unvarnished so as to create visual contrast with the panel.

I enjoyed the process of recreating this sign as it involved many varied approaches to achieve the finished artwork.

This is a great sign for those who appreciate traditional craftmanship and want to gift someone something more meaningful than a product of the quick print tin culture.

I painted this sign, using traditional signwriting techniques and products, skills which I learnt many years ago, then reluctantly discarded; a lost love I have recently rekindled.

Being hand painted this sign is unique, individual and its characteristics in the lettering and artwork reflect my own ability with a brush as no part of it was machine printed.

I use salvaged panel materials when appropriate to add aesthetically qualities to my signs and to also help the planet.
