This ‘The Prancing Pony’ sign is my artistic interpretation of the original from the first The Lord of the Rings movie.

I painted this sign on 6mm maple plywood which measures 21cm x 30cm using a mixture of acrylic and solvent based paints. The woodgrain of the panel is visible through paintwork which adds a rustic touch to this sign, a sign which I feel any Middle Earth fans would love. .

I painted this sign, using traditional signwriting techniques and products, skills which I learnt many years ago, then reluctantly discarded; a lost love I have recently rekindled.

Being hand painted this sign is unique, individual and its characteristics in the lettering and artwork reflect my own ability with a brush as no part of it was machine printed.

I use salvaged panel materials when appropriate to add aesthetically qualities to my signs and to also help the planet.
